Mountain Bike Telluride – How to Corner

Cornering on a Mountain Bike

Cycling Utah has put together this nifty article for our mutual reading and riding pleasure.  We have all seen the pro’s riding, carving turns around corners as if the hand of “Pin-It-Thru-It” (my own created cycling God) is pressing down upon their bike.  Achieving what seems impossible to us mortals. Bryson Perry does a good job covering the technique needed to achieve efficient cornering.

from cycling utah and Bryson Perry:

Generally speaking, to corner confidently on an MTB, keep in mind these five fundamentals:

1- Make sure your bike is set up properly before you start.

2- Focus on where you want to go, LOOK where you want to go.

3- Stay loose and relaxed (arms, legs, ankles) ; don’t think about it too much, just go for it.

4- Do any braking BEFORE you enter a turn.

5- Once you are in the turn, rip it!

Santa Cruz – Bronson 650b

Mountain Bike Telluride Demos Available

The Santa Cruz Bronson is a game-changer in the trail bike category. Really, it is the perfect Telluride bike and could be your quiver killer. The 27.5 inch (650b) Bronson meets in the middle; the nimbleness of the 26” wheeled bike and the smooth rolling ride of the 29” wheel size. The 650b hoops combined with 6” of adjustable travel makes the perfect park lap bike, Wasatch ripper, or even Prospect-Alta steed.  Santa Cruz seems to have nailed the geometry right out of the gate.  MTBR’s Francis Cebedo said, “It’s light, stiff and plush and all the geometry angles are dialed.” The Bronson has a 67 degree head tube, which seems to put the bike in a sweet spot for both handling and wheel size. Richard Cunningham from Pink Bike agrees that “there is a surety to its steering that encourages the rider to ignore minor obstacles and choose the flow lines”.

Mountain Biking Eye Candy

Telluride Mountain Biking – The season is upon us!

As the Mountain Biking season is well under way in both Telluride and in Taos smiles are a plenty from the joy a bike can bring.  If you can’t be on your bike (stuck in the office, it’s too dark/my lights don’t work or hopefully not, hurt and recovering) watching someone else ride their bike is the next best thing.  We here at BootDoctors and Paragon Outdoors spend countless hours exploring bikes via riding, talking, the internet, print media and videos.  This example of film from Union Production Co. caught our attention.  The visuals are creative and crisp, the landscapes engaging the imagination for travel via two wheels.  After all bikes are a form of transportation, for the mind, the body and the soul.  Grab some popcorn and a drink…Enjoy!
