Cornering on a Mountain Bike
Cycling Utah has put together this nifty article for our mutual reading and riding pleasure. We have all seen the pro’s riding, carving turns around corners as if the hand of “Pin-It-Thru-It” (my own created cycling God) is pressing down upon their bike. Achieving what seems impossible to us mortals. Bryson Perry does a good job covering the technique needed to achieve efficient cornering.
from cycling utah and Bryson Perry:
Generally speaking, to corner confidently on an MTB, keep in mind these five fundamentals:
1- Make sure your bike is set up properly before you start.
2- Focus on where you want to go, LOOK where you want to go.
3- Stay loose and relaxed (arms, legs, ankles) ; don’t think about it too much, just go for it.
4- Do any braking BEFORE you enter a turn.
5- Once you are in the turn, rip it!
Pivot Cycles and Dennis Yuroshek put together this nifty video of Pivot rider Carolynn Romaine ripping some corners and taking it to the berms and whoops in this video….enjoy. Remember to ride all of the sweet Pivot bikes at Pivot Cycles Demo in Telluride July 11th! CLICK FOR PIVOT DEMO
