TAOS SKI VALLEY: 21st Annual Ben Myers Ridge-A-Thon

Join Us March 17th & 18th, 2017!

Hustle to Help. What a great way to help those in need due to lack of medical care coverage.
Proving again that skiers and snowboarders have really big hearts and will shred for a cause.
Taos has always been home to people who are willing to climb every mountain (at least the Taos peaks) to help someone in need.

What Is It: The Ben Myers Ridge-A-Thon is a ski/board fundraising event in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, scheduled for March 17 & 18, 2017. Now in its 21st year, it attracts snow-adventure-seekers of all ages from across the Southwest and beyond. The pledges gathered support the Emergency Medicines Fund at the Taos Community Foundation.
The Ridge-A-Thon Story: Ridge-A-Thon was initiated in 1997 to assist Ben Myers, a local Taos extreme skier, who passed away from cancer at age 26 after having no way to fund his hospice care. The community held the first Ben Myers Ridge-A-Thon to assist with his medical expenses. Over the last 20 years, the Ridge-A-Thon has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support emergency medical services and medicines.
How It Works: Paired teams collect pledges leading up to the event, then they hike up and hustle down a menu of runs on Highline Ridge & the West Basin in Taos Ski Valley, just to do it all again, as many times as they want to, racking up a point per run toward their total of RUNS. The runs available are determined by TSV patrol according to snow conditions at the time of the competition. The post-event awards celebration is held at Taos Ski Valley on Saturday at 4pm. Prizes from our sponsors will be given to the top teams in two categories: most FUNDS and most RUNS (alternately).
Registration is open. Not a high altitude shredder? You can sign up for a more mellow challenge to help without straining your legs and lungs.
